ABSTRACT

Sacral cyst usually occurs around the nerve root, which is the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid between the intima and the perineurium at the junction of the posterior spinal nerve root and the dorsal root ganglion. Its typical clinical manifestations include low back pain, lower limb radiation pain, rectal/bladder dysfunction and so on. Complications of acute subdural hematoma with cerebral hernia after posterior midline cystectomy of sacral cyst are rare. A middle-aged female patient with sacral cyst was admitted to Gansu Provincial Hospital. After the operation, acute subdural hematoma occurred in the right frontoparietal temporal occipital region, and cerebral herniation was formed. After the operation, the patient was given rehabilitation exercise and discharged well. No neurological deficits were observed during follow-up.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the risk model of patients with secondary end stage renal disease (ESRD),and to validate its applicability by collecting clinical parameters of contrast induced nephropathy (CIN).Methods CIN patients were continuously enrolled in the study. The clinical data and laboratory results were analyzed.Eighteen months follow-up was performed for CIN patients to confirm the prognosis, and the long-term risk prediction and related risk assessment were analyzed based on the follow-up results. Results Totally 215 cases of CIN patients were included in the study.Among them,14 patients were lost in follow-up,and 19 patients progressed to ESRD stage during follow-up period.Cox regression analysis showed that the risk factors of poor prognosis in CIN patients included repeated angiography, high MRS scale score, high uKIM-1 level, high umAlb level and high uNGAL level. All of these factors were independent risk factors of ESRD within 18 months in CIN patients.Taking umAlb=36.80 ng/ml,uNGAL=128.21 ng/ml,uKIM-1=137.56 pg/ml as threshold, the areas under ROC curve were 0.746,0.756 and 0.768 respectively. Conclusion In this study, the risk factors of ESRD in CIN patients were predicted and quantified, and the CIN diagnosis and treatment system were further improved.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the prevalence and risk factor of co-exiting pre-hypertension and pre-diabetes condition in middle to elder adults, and to provide the theoretical basis for preventing cardiovascular disease in relevant population in Chengdu area. Methods: A total of 5240 middle to elder adults from (40-79) years of age in Chengdu area were enrolled for a stratiifed cluster sampling study. The blood pressure, glucose and other clinical information were collected by more than 30 medical professionals with uniifed training to investigate the prevalence of co-exiting pre-hypertension and pre-diabetes condition with the risk factors. Results: The overall prevalence rate of coexisting pre-hypertension and pre-diabetes condition was at 12.5% in Chengdu area and the standardized prevalence was at 11.5%. The prevalence rate in urban area was 12.4% and in rural was 13.2%, P=0.47, the prevalence in male gender was 12.7% and in female was 12.4%,P=0.81. With the increased age, the prevalence trend was elevated accordingly. Multi-regression analysis indicated that the elder age, overweight or obesity (female with abdominal obesity), sibling history of hypertension, hyper-triglyceridemia, multiple childbirth and menopause had the higher risk of coexisting pre-hypertension and pre-diabetes condition, allP Conclusion: There is a high prevalence rate of coexisting pre-hypertension and pre-diabetes condition in middle to elder population in Chengdu area and the prevalence is closely related to age. It is important to prevent such condition by elevating educational level nationwide, controlling waist and body weight, adjusting diet structure with proper exercise.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and diagnostic methods of cerebral schistosomiasis. Methods The data of CT,MRI and the cerebral spine fluid(CSF) immunoassay in 42 patients with cerebral schistosomiasis were analyzed retrospectively. Results Forty cerebral schistosomiasis patients were diagnosed by the iconography and immunoassay,1 by the postoperative pathological examination and 1 by diagnostic treatment with praziquantel. Conclusions CT and MRI are of great value to determination of the position and nature of the cerebral schistosomiasis. The sensitivity and accuracy of MRI are better for indicating the main pathological changes of the disease than those of CT.The CSF immunoassay plays an important role in the differential diagnosis of cerebral schistosomiasis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study peripheral blood lymphocytic ?-adrenoceptor(?-AR) densities and ?_1-adrenoceptor gene(?_1-AR mRNA) expression levels in patients with heart failure,to investigate the influences of different ?-adrenoceptor antagonists in ?-AR densities and ?_1-AR mRNA expression levels. Methods 104 cases of patients with heart failure were randomly divided into non-?-adrenoceptor antagonist group(35 cases),metoprolol group(34 cases) and carvedilol group(35 cases),we repeatly determined the ?-AR densities and ?_1-AR mRNA expression levels after two-month therapy. Results The ?-AR densities and ?_1-AR mRNA expression levels in heart failure group reduced significantly compared to these in normal persons(P0.05).After two-month therapy,?-AR densities and ?_1-AR mRNA expression levels in metoprolol group were significantly higher than those in carvendilol group and non-?-adrenoceptor antagonist group(P0.05).Conclusions The peripheral blood lymphocytic ?-AR densities and ?_1-AR mRNA expression level down-regulates in heart failure, which correlate with the severity of heart failure but etiological factors.Metoprolol can up-regulate the ?-AR densities and ?_1-AR mRNA expression level, whereas carvedilol has no such effects.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of psychological intervention on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) accompanied by psychogenic disturbance.Methods112 patients with ACS were evaluated with depression status inventory (DSI) and symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90). The cases accompanied with depression were randomly divided into the psychological intervention group (group A) and drug group (group B). Patients of group A were treated with psychological intervention besides routine therapy. The curative effects of the two groups were compared.Results79 cases (70.5%) had depression. Their scores of somatization, depression, anxiety, fear, paranoid ideation, and total score and positive symptom distress level of SCL-90 were significantly different compared with the normal group. After psychological intervention, to patients of the group A, the DSI score fell and symptoms improved significantly (P<0.01), the in-patient duration shorten (P<0.05).ConclusionPsychogenic factors is not neglectable in the process and prognosis of ACS. Effective psychological intervention can promote the patient's healing.
